Co-Digestion of Extended Aeration Sewage Sludge with Whey, Grease and Septage: Experimental and Modeling Determination

چکیده
The potential of co-digestion mixing thickened secondary sludge (TS) from extended aeration wastewater treatment plant and locally available substrates (whey, grease septage) has been studied in this work, using three steps. first step was a batch test to determine the biological methane (BMP) different mixtures co-substrates with TS. second carried out lab-scale reactors (20 L), simulating anaerobic continuous stirred tank reactors, fed by that were determined according previous results. Modeling applied third step, ADM1 as mechanistic model help understand process. According BMP septage used co-substrate negative effect on performance, addition 10–30% or whey would lead gain around 60–70% production methane. results reactor tests did not validate positive effects observed assay but confirmed good biodegradation efficiency (> 85%). main purpose scenario is recover energy waste effluents require even more for their treatment. protein lipid percentages particulate biodegradable COD are important variables digester stability production, predicted modeling. simulations model, adapted co-digestion, powerful tool optimize process biogas production.

Anaerobic Treatment of Sewage Sludge and Grease Trap Sludge in Continuous Co-digestion
In recent years many researchers show a high interest in co-digestion, simultaneous anaerobic decomposition of a homogenous mixture of at least two biodegradable waste. Anaerobic codigestion is reported to offer several benefits over digestion of separate materials, such as increased cost-efficiency, increased biodegradation of the treated materials, as well as increased biogas production. Most...
متن کاملAnaerobic Co-digestion of Sewage Sludge with Cheese Whey under Thermophilic and Mesophilic Conditions
Anaerobic digestion of sewage sludge (SS) and co-digestion with cheese whey (CW) was evaluated in batch conditions under mesophilic and thermophilic regimens. Results indicated that the co-digestion can be successfully attained despite some inhibitory stages that may be initially present due to the accumulation of volatile fatty acids. Degradation of the mixture SS-CW followed a similar pattern...
متن کاملAnaerobic co-digestion of municipal wastewater sludge and restaurant grease
Co-digestion has drawn much attention because of its potential to increase biogas production among other benefits. Restaurant grease has high energy content and methane production potential and so is a promising substrate for co-digestion with municipal wastewater sludge. Anaerobic co-digestion of municipal wastewater sludge and restaurant grease was investigated at laboratory-scale under mesop...
متن کاملAnaerobic co-digestion of coffee waste and sewage sludge.
The feasibility of the anaerobic co-digestion of coffee solid waste and sewage sludge was assessed. Five different solid wastes with different chemical properties were studied in mesophilic batch assays, providing basic data on the methane production, reduction of total and volatile solids and hydrolysis rate constant. Most of the wastes had a methane yield of 0.24-0.28 m3 CH4(STP)/kg VS(initia...
